Etching from Van Sandwyk's illustrations for Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows depicting Ratty and Moley going for a picnic in Ratty's boat upon the river. A beautiful image of friendship and adventure.

In 2 CM simple yet elegant gilt brushed decorative frame. Dark green acid free matting with simple double rule border. Etching shows some slight rippling from the moisture of the watercolours.
A fantastic, richly coloured and beautifully detailed image. This etching, in sepia tone, was used in the limited edition of the Philosopher's Cupboard.

A lovely etching depicting an old bee in bedroom slippers. The bee holds up a candle in one hand and a heavy book in the other as he creeps along. The line detail of the wooden floor, wall and textures on the bee make this etching particularly interesting. This image was included in the Limited edition of 'Betwixt and Between - the Art and Influence of Charles Van Sandwyk'

Vancouver: LIMITED EDITION OF 75. As new. Original sepia etching 17 X 5 CM (6.75" X 2") on white paper (the sheet it is upon measures 9" X 5" / 22.5 X 13.5 CM). Gild and colour highlights done by hand. The image is signed beneath by Van Sandwyk along with the limitation number (out of 75) in pencil.
A beautiful etching depicting a mouse standing upon a small stack of books. In his front paws he holds open a book. Behind him a burning candle sends an elegant trail of smoke into the air. A similar reversed image is used for the limited edition bookmark that accompanies the limited edition of 'I Believe'.

Scholarly Crow on Branch (with Nest) #134011 SOLD SIGNED Original hand-coloured etching - artists proof. Textured cream paper 9" X 7.5" with image in center measuring 6" X 4.5". Top and bottom edges of paper are crisply trimmed while the sides have been left rough. Richly coloured. The image depicts a crow in a long red scarf and glasses who holds a book under it's wing. The crow perches on a branch next to which sits a nest containing three blue eggs and three books entitled "Field Guide to Decent Humans", "Bird-Lovers" and "Bad Eggs". With a small A.P. Notation to the bottom left of the image and Charles' signature to the bottom right. A beautifully detailed etching made even more wonderful with the addition of rich colours.

He holds in one hand a fishing rod and in his lap are two large, rainbow fish. A bucket of berries, presumably his snack, sits on the ground beside him. A Canadian illustration that is full of character.
